Property Improvements Without Assessments, the “PIWA PLAN” is a 24 month simple plan for getting the people of Hillsborough County back to working again, by allowing all property owners within a 24 month period in Hillsborough County to make Improvements to the owner’s property (up to 50% of the current assessed value of the property) without the property having any new assessments for as long as the property remains in the owner’s name. Any and all new owners of the property after the completion of the 24 month PIWA PLAN would be responsible for the full assessed value of the property. Any transferals of ownership of the property within the 24 month window of the PIWA PLAN, would enable the new owner to benefit from the PIWA PLAN as long as the property remains in their name. What Now?
The Trayvon Martin Case
Now that George Zimmerman has been charged with second-degree murder we must wait for the painfully slow wheels of justice to turn. We must go into our communities each night and encourage our Black you men to turn away from violence and hatred of one another. We must do all we can to preserve what is left of a generation of Black youth that has been destroyed by continuous negative images of Black youth on TV. We must save them from continuous negative images of Black woman in music and on television. We must save them from the gang family violence that clams more and more lives every night in our communities. The cry from Trayvon's mother has been repeated somewhere in this nation every night since it came from her heart. This is our national emergency.
